Pastoral Council Meeting minutes

1. Minutes of last meeting on February 23, 2010 were reviewed.
Council agreed to delete the following sentence from the minutes: “Current outgoing members are welcome to put their names forward.”
This statement does not accurately reflect the Constitution. We’ll first follow our plan to recruit three new members to the Council to replace the outgoing members. If there’s lack of interest from the parishioners to join the Council, we’ll approach Bishop Coli after Easter to revise the election guidelines for our parish.
Also, Stan Borys clarified, that weekday masses are Tuesday to Friday only. There is no mass on Mondays.
2. Elections for the Pastoral Council:
a. Ballots have been prepared in both languages.
b. Fr. Stadler will announce the revised pre-election process on Sunday, April 11th and encourage parishioners to put their name on the ballot if they’re interested in joining the Pastoral Council.
c. The ballots are to be returned the following Sunday, April 18th.
d. If more than three names are submitted, an election will be held.
e. After Easter, Bishop Coli will be approached if there’s still a need to revise the Constitution for Council elections in our parish.
f. Pastoral Council members will approach parishioners to encourage them to put their names forward.
3. Plans for Easter celebrations were discussed:
a. Larry Kurec is looking for altar servers, boys and adults, to assist with each mass during Easter.
b. Younger boys in our parish will be approached after Easter to become altar boys and be trained by the older boys.
c. Larry will also try to secure readers. At the same time, if anyone is interested in participating by reading during the Holy Week, please inform Larry or Fr. Stadler.
d. A planning meeting for all interested will be held after the mass on Holy Thursday, and on the day prior each of the Easter mass celebrations.
4. Date of next meeting: Tuesday, April 20th, 2010.
